EMVI TRAINING SESSIONS: INTERCULTURAL DIALOGUE
The next EMVI Training Session "Empowering Migrants Voices" on networking, advocacy and strategic communication will take place Tuesday, 21. 3. 2023, from 16:00 to 20:00, in the Info-office project space located on Ulica Vide Pregarčeve 11.
Furkan Guner will present the Association for Intercultural Dialogue (Društvo Medkulturni dialog). He comes from Turkey and is an intercultural mediator for Slovenian and Turkish culture and a geographer and political scientist by education. He has lived in Slovenia for nine years. Since 2017, he has been the legal representative of Društvo Medkulturni dialog and coordinator of projects in the field of intercultural dialogue, integration, and active citizenship. He is also the author and presenter of the migrant radio programme Enolončnica on Radio Študent, where he tries to break down prejudices about migration with success stories of migrants.
Društvo Medkulturni dialog is a registered association, established in Ljubljana in 2007. Through localized community projects, discussion forums, and teaching programs it enables people to venture across boundaries of religion, culture, and social class. The association was founded with the aim of advancing social cohesion by connecting people from the same or different cultural backgrounds through dialogue. It provides a platform where people can meet to share narratives and perspectives, discover the values they have in common and be at ease with their differences.
The presentation is preceded by an issue-raising meeting where we will discuss issues of concern in the daily lives of migrants in Slovenia.
The event will be in English. Translation can be provided. We can offer assistance with transportation and childcare. Food and beverages will be provided.
Let us know if you need assistance.
