Report: Chain Pushbacks and State Violence on the Balkan Route - Slovenia (2019-2021)
We are publishing a report detailing systemic violence of Slovene police and chain pushbacks on Balkan Route. The report focuses on systemic violations of Slovene state against people on the move in the border areas and in state institutions such as asylum camps or detention centers. The report also includes the issue of pushbacks from Italy and Austria and the role Slovenia in these chain returns, legislative changes to the Foreigners Act and International Protection Act and the issues of legalisation of general suspension of asylum right. The report also details several civil struggles and protests from past years denouncing border violence and demanding freedom of movement.
The report was produced as part of the Balkan Route Awareness Raising Campaign, project, supported by funds of the Active Citizen Fund Slovenija (2014-2021).
